Week of Aug 9th - FYI
1. Configuration and testing of new print server.
2. Campus Wi-Fi upgrades and repair of current AP configurations.
Week of July 12th - FYI
SUMMARY: Move devices to the new Network.
RESULT: This should not affect anyone in the short term. We are selectively moving the low hanging fruit, and will document and communicate any changes that actually may affect the general populous.
ACTION: No effect expected at this time. Be on the lookout for any network connectivity issues, including wireless, laptop, servers, and printers. Please raise a ticket if you suspect anything.
STATUS: ONGOING. Many devices will be moved or re-cabled on an ongoing basis.
SUMMARY: Major cleanup in wiring closets, including new racks, patch panels, slim cables, and various moves.
RESULT: Every effort will be made to move things individually or in manageable batches. As such, hopefully no cables or connections will be missed. The end result will be cleaner, more manageable closets, and accompanying documentation to aid in understanding and troubleshooting.

SUMMARY: Connect new Verizon Fiber Circuit for Redundancy and Bandwidth
RESULT: This should not be visible to anyone. Eventually, additional speed\bandwidth will be available AND internet will remain up even if our primary fiber goes down.
ACTION: No action required from users.
STATUS: In Progress
SUMMARY: New 2025 Print Server on new network, and move\define printers there.
RESULT: Eventually, printers will be connected to (and labelled) the new network. Users will then be able to automatically (or manually) obtain printers to print to the new\moved devices.

Week of July 5th FYI

SUMMARY: Configure Operations to use new Patching, Loading, and Monitoring servers.
RESULT: This should not affect anyone visibly or in the short term, but will eventually speed up internet and network access by cutting down on 95% of the internet traffic needed for these purposes.
ACTION: No effect expected. Eventually, laptops, workstations, and servers will patch automatically overnight and reboot off hours. Reminder that if you ever have a question about the legitimacy of notifications, pop-ups, or emails, to raise a ticket so that we can assist.
STATUS: ONGOING. Many devices have checked in. Writing SOPs, and setting these servers up for ongoing use.
ADDITIONAL ITEM(s):
We will be testing some reconfiguration of access points, as well as new profiles, SSIDs, and authentication methods for new wireless access points.
Week of 6/29 FYI
SUMMARY: Deploy T-Mobile backup Wi-Fi gateways for each applicable department.
RESULT: No immediate impact.
ACTION: Orientation with IT staff on proper usage and procedures.
STATUS: In Progress
SUMMARY: Install new network switches on new fiber.
RESULT: No immediate impact until we start cutting over devices to use these new switches.
ACTION: No actions or concerns for users at this time.
STATUS: In Progress.
SUMMARY: New Servers built. Being configured with software to speed up patching, loading, and monitoring.
RESULT: This should not affect anyone, but will eventually speed up internet and network access by cutting down on 95% of the internet traffic needed for these purposes.
ACTION: No effect expected. Eventually, laptops, workstations, and servers will patch automatically overnight and reboot off hours.
STATUS: 75% COMPLETE. Servers are built and Patching, Loading, and Monitoring applications are being configured.
SUMMARY: Migrate all virtual servers off old physical servers.
RESULT: This should not affect anyone in the short term, as the virtual machines should run better on the new hosts.
ACTION: No actions required of users. Please do report any strange behavior with logins, printing, or internet access..
STATUS: In Progress. 2 domain controllers and one application server to be moved.
Week of June 22nd FYI
SUMMARY: Disable hundreds of COMPUTER accounts which have been left on the domain for many years. We will run a script and disable anything which has not connected recently.
RESULT: This should not affect anyone who has used their COMPUTER in the last 6 months. Any other computer account would be disabled.
ACTION: No action required unless you get a message that your COMPUTER was disabled. or has a TUST error. If so, please raise a ticket.
STATUS: Carried over from last week.
SUMMARY: Vendors will terminate the new fiber and prepare it for our use. They will be working in many of the closets.
RESULT: This should not affect anyone as the only people using the new network as it develops is IT for testing. Cutover will follow at a later and controlled time.
ACTION: No action required on your part at this time. Be aware of workers in the closets and computer areas.
STATUS: In Progress
SUMMARY: Internet Filtering Service will be enabled through the new SonicWall Firewalls, in a redundant pair.
RESULT: This should not affect anyone, as it is passthrough only, but the existing filters for websites that should not be accessed will be in play.
ACTION: No effect expected, but be on the lookout for any strange behavior, primarily of destinations being blocked that should not be blocked, or websites that should be blocked being accessbile.
STATUS: In Progress
SUMMARY: New Servers are being built to facilitate faster Installation of Operating Systems, and of Updates and Patches

Week of June 15th FYI
Printers:
- SUMMARY: All old printer queues will be removed from the old Domain Controllers, which were allowed to function as print servers.
- RESULT: You will NOT be able to print to printers on \\YJACKET1 or \\YJACKET4. New printserver is \\YJ-PRINTSERVER1. Several main printers are published to everyone automatically by a Group Policy, and should be names in an easy to use fashion, while matching the labels on the printers themselves...based on room name\number.
- ACTION: If you require printers other than those published to you, you should be able to add them from "PRINTERS" on your machine or contact support for assistance.
User Accounts:
- SUMMARY: Disable hundreds of USER accounts which have been left active for many years. We will run a script to determine when the last login was and disable anything not recent.
- RESULT: This should not affect anyone who has used their ACCOUNT in the last 6 months. Anyone else would be disabled.
- ACTION: No action required unless you get a message that your account was disabled. If so, contact support.
Computer Accounts:
